Notes are personal, and we keep it that way

Updated over a week ago

Notes are personal, and we keep it that way with strict security and privacy measures.

How secure is my data?

On Supernotes your data is always encrypted in transit (forced SSL) and encrypted at rest (AES-256). Currently data is not end-to-end-encrypted (E2EE) on the platform, but this is something we hope to offer in the future. As a web-first platform with integrated collaboration features, it is difficult to do E2EE right while also not hindering when and how people want to share their content. If you'd like to learn more about all the different forms of encryption, and why we don't have E2EE currently we've written an in-depth article over on our blog.

Do you backup my data?

Our databases have full backups taken every day with write-ahead-logs maintained alongside those backups, so at any time we can restore our databases from any point within the last seven days. We also store encrypted daily backups of our databases for the past month on a different cloud provider to ensure your data can always be recovered even in the case of a catastrophic failure of our primary cloud provider.

How private is my data?

Our team will never read or access your note content, unless we have received your express permission during a customer support interaction. If you would like to read our full privacy policy, here's a link to it.
